Mindy Minion and Mini Minion 2016 SCARECROWS AT BEHNKE'S
by Stephanie Fleming, Behnke's Vice President

It's that time again! Time when each department at Behnke's creates a scarecrow for our annual scarecrow contest.  We have 10 entries this year and want your help to pick the winner. With one more week left to vote, you can pick up a ballot (complete with a map of the locations of each scarecrow) and wander around the garden center to find the one you like the best. If you cannot get to in to see us in person, check out our Facebook page where you can view each of the scarecrows and vote for your favorite.

I am trying my best to be impartial, which is why I did not put the Christmas Shop's scarecrow in this email...the Elf on the Shelf! I have been told he is not scary enough but heck it's Christmas...who wants scary?

Quick, before the leaves fall!
Block a view with beautiful,
tall evergreens while giving shelter to birds and freshening
the air. Many grow quickly, so you won't have to wait
forever for the desired effect and most are unpalatable to
deer.  All prosper in full sun with good drainage.

dwarf alberta spruce

They're currently 2.5 ft tall and are great in containers
mixed with trailing perennials or would make nice little live Christmas trees.
