THE NATIONAL CAPITAL ORCHID SHOW & SALE

This weekend marks the 69th National Capital Orchid Society (NCOS) Fall Show and Sale and the 4th year that the show will be held at Behnke Nurseries. What an honor! In the past the show was held at the National Arboretum but now NCOS comes in and turns our greenhouses into an orchid wonderland. If you have ever wanted to see hundreds and hundreds of orchids all in one place, this is for you. Open and free to the public, you can join in walking tours, learn about the different orchids, bring orchids to be repotted by our resident Orchid Lady, Carol Allen, and even come for special photographers-only hours if you want that perfect photo.

Best of all, there will be vendors selling some of the same orchids you will see in the show and experts on hand to tell you how to care for them.  I love orchids and each year I pick out another special one for our kitchen. I tend to get the tiny ones and small hanging ones; there is something about watching your own orchid grow and bloom that makes you feel you can do pretty much anything.
