Chili Cook Off, This Saturday Rain or Shine! INSIDE!
Chili

Gosh, where has the year gone? It's time again for our annual Chili Cook Off!  Each year around this time, we roll up our sleeves, get the power washers out and clean outside the big greenhouse so we can host all the CASI (Chili Appreciation Society International) cooks who come out to compete against each other in support of the Beltsville Rotary Club.

This year, as we looked ahead at the weather, darn it if they weren't forecasting RAIN... Really? Well we sure can use it...been awhile since we had a nice soaking rain...but why not wait until after the cook-off is over? Oh well, life is nothing without a plan B!  So wear your raincoats and galoshes and come on out to our garden center! We have talked to Mike, the Big Chili Pepper of the Mason Dixon Chili Pod of CASI Chili Cooks and he has assured us they don't mind cooking in the rain. Well, that's not going to happen. We have lots of room in our main greenhouse and have decided to move everything inside!

So leave those umbrellas at the door while you taste the best chili ever (chili tasting begins at 12 noon), just don't forget to pick them back up again when you go outside to check out our wonderful selection of trees, shrubs and perennials! Don't miss the huge raffle (10am to 4pm); prizes include tickets to a Washington Redskins Game, a TV and many gift cards. Our friends at Old Line Fine Wine, Spirits & Bistro will be back with great craft beer for you to try. Meet the people at Fidos For Freedom, a dedicated group of volunteers who strive to increase the quality of life for those with disabilities through the use of hearing dogs, service dogs and therapy dogs! Plus, there will be a salsa tasting, People's Choice Chili Awards and more! I hope you will be able to come out and join us for our 8th Annual Chili Cook Off where charity is always the winner! It's a lot of fun.

See you Saturday!
