It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas here at Behnke's. Our Christmas shop is beautifully decorated, the first set of Christmas trees and greens have arrived and the greenhouses are filling up with Poinsettias, Cyclamen and Christmas Cactus. Our Poinsettias are beautiful again this year: our extremely picky buyer visits local growers throughout the season to select the best plants. Red is hands-down the most popular color, but If you're not a fan of the traditional, why not try something different? There are numerous "novelty" varieties to choose from in some wild shapes, colors and sizes. Or, if you just want a splash of color in your home or office try a white, pink or marble poinsettia.  Walk over and say hello to the designers in our Florist Shop. Look at the lovey Holiday arrangements they create each day. The house on the south side of the property was the office of the original garden center. In those early days, the Hahn family lived upstairs. By the 1990's, having fallen into somewhat of a state of disrepair, it served as a Halloween haunted house before Behnke's took over the business. Behnke's has converted this building into a "Florist Shop". The florist maintains an excellent selection of unusual fresh flowers, both for walk-in sales and delivery.

Old World Christmas Ornaments: Each figural glass ornament produced for The Merck Family's Old World Christmas is hand-crafted in age-old tradition using the same techniques that originated in the 1800's. Molten glass is mouth-blown into finely carved molds available only to the Merck Family's Old World Christmas, before a hot solution of liquid silver is poured inside. The ornaments are then hand-painted and glittered in a series of labor-intensive steps to achieve the beautiful creations. Behnke's has these beautiful ornaments at BOTH of our locations!
