Academy Award Winning Songs with Mitch Kahn Tuesday, June 28th 6:30-7:30pm
Join singer-pianist-entertainer, Mitch Kahn,
as he presents an entertaining show packed with music and anecdotes about the singers, actors and composers that made these tunes famous. Mr. Kahn will have the audience singing along to Oscar-winning hits such as Lullaby of Broadway and The Way We Were, along with many others.
Mr. Kahn has performed at many notable venues such as The Rainbow Room, Sardi's, and Tavern on the Green. No registration required for this free event. Light refreshments served.

Flower Readings with Sue Adams Wednesday, June 29th 1-2pm
What flowers are your favorites? Which ones are you drawn to? And what can they tell us about who we are? You will select a flower and Ms. Adams will tell you what that means. Also, learn the history of the meanings of flowers.
Ms. Adams is an award-winning container designer who creates the hanging basket and container designs sold at Adams Fairacre Farms.

Let's Get Ready to Rumble! Battle of the Books Starts Thursday, June 30th 5-7pm
Do you like to read, show off your literary talents, enjoy a little competition with friends? Well, then... join the Battle of the Books Team this summer!
The Mid-Hudson Library System's 12th annual Battle of the Books, a nationally recognized literature contest, begins on June 30th. Read great books and meet with coaches every Thurs. from 5-7 pm to learn book-trivia, enjoy pizza and snacks, and participate in book-related activities. You will compete in mini-battles, based on the books you've read, with local libraries in August. The library will supply the books in July, however, if you'd like to start reading sooner, see Ginny.
An All-Star Team will be formed to compete on Sept. 17th against twenty-four other library teams to Battle it out for the Regional Championship. (The Beacon Bees were the 2010, 2013, & 2015 Regional Champions!) Students may sign-up by seeing or contacting Ginny Figlia, Youth Services Librarian: 845-831-1134, x.103 or youth@beaconlibrary.org .

Traveling Lantern Theatre Co. Thursday, July 7th 2-3pm
A young athlete takes you on an Olympic adventure! Meet Vladimir Cashewninski, champion badminton player, as he prepares to compete at the Olympic Games. The night before his big day, he has an enthralling dream that takes him to Ancient Greece, where he meets the Olympic Herald and teams up with the audience to explore the first Olympic Games.
This performance is geared for children grades K-6, but families are welcome; no registration necessary.

Ready Readers Story/Craft Hour! Fridays, 11am-12pm July 8th - August 12th
"Ready for anything" will be the theme of the day with stories, songs, crafts, and other related activities to help build life-long readers!
Part of the "On Your Mark,Get Set...READ!" summer reading programming.
This program is for children ages 3 1/2 to 6.

Adult Summer Reading Kick-off! Thusday, July 7th All Day
Stop by Thursday, July 7th, to learn details of our 9th annual four-week program and information about our special events. This year's national theme is "Exercise Your Mind." We have an exciting line-up of fun and creative activities and even a Magic Show! Kick-off fun includes refreshments and a fantastic giveaway! Painted Parasols Saturday, July 9th 12-2pm
Join Vickie Raabin (aka Miss Vickie) to create a beautiful painted parasol. Parasols are full-sized and made of paper and wood. Let your creativity shine! All supplies are included in this free event for adults.
