Portraits: Works on Paper by Joe Radoccia
Reception June 11th 5-7pm
One year ago, local artist, Joe Radoccia, set aside his oil paints, canvas and colorful pallet and picked up an ebony pencil, earth toned acrylics, and a roll of paper. The goal of his experiment was to paint larger scale without losing the intimacy of his smaller works. To achieve this objective he chose to limit his options using as few materials as necessary and focusing on a single subject, the portrait. "I wanted to create not just larger than life representational portraits, but faces that somehow would engage the viewer and hint at the essence of the personality portrayed," he says. A selection of works from this year of portrait painting will be on view at the library from June 11th - July 3rd.
