Congratulations, Savoit Honorees!

Thanks to all those who attended the The Helen Savoit Award dinner this past Saturday at St. Rocco Society. Marcia Frahman was awarded the 8th Annual Helen Savoit Award for Library Advocacy in recognition of her many years volunteering for the Howland Public Library. Justice McCray also received the Savoit Education Gift in recognition for his outstanding service as the library's tech-assistant. At the event, Beacon Ward 3 Council-Member Pam Wetherbee also presented Marcia and Justice with certificates of recognition from New York State Senator Sue Serino and New York State Assemblyman Frank Skartados. It was a wonderful evening. Thanks to all the individuals and business owners who donated to the Savoit Fund. Join us for our popular monthly Adult Coloring program and see what the buzz is all about. Come to unwind, while expressing your creativity! Both colored pencils and fine tipped markers will be available, along with a wide variety of coloring books to choose pages from.
International Film Night
Friday, May 27th, 7pm

This month's feature, The Cuckoo, is from Russia. Russian, Finnish, and the Saami dialect of Lapland, are spoken by three strangers whose lives intersect during WWII. A comedy of errors ensues as each person cannot understand the other...but humanity is universal.
Free admission. Doors open at 6:30. 

Memorial Day, Monday, May 30th

The Library will be closed on Monday, May 30th, in observance of Memorial Day.
The 2016 Beacon Memorial Day Parade will held on Memorial Day, 10:00 a.m.  The parade will start at City Hall and will travel on Main Street to the Memorial Building at 413 Main Street.
