Food for Fines!

The Howland Public Library wants to help you begin the New Year with a fresh start. Library patrons can erase or reduce their library fines and help their neighbors in need at the same time. Between January 2nd and February 14th, the library will running the popular Food for Fines program to benefit local food pantries.

Donations of non-perishables, such as peanut butter, canned tuna and bags of rice, will be accepted in payment of fines owed on Howland Public Library books, CDs, DVDs and other items. The food will be donated to St. Andrews Food Pantry with the help of I Am Beacon.

Donated items must be non-perishable, labeled, undamaged, and un-expired. Food for Fines does not apply to fees for items that are lost or damaged, long overdue or from other libraries. Donations cannot be applied to future fines.

There's no limit on the number of items you can donate. If you wish to donate even if you don't have fines it would be greatly appreciated. Everyone is encouraged to give.

Help your neighbors. Help yourselves.
Happy New Year from Howland Public Library.

Coloring Books for Adults

We had such a enthusiastic response to our first Adult Coloring session we decided to add 3 more dates!

Come to unwind, while expressing your creativity! Adult coloring books offer a variety of designs, often intricate, just waiting to get lost in. Both colored pencils and fine tipped markers will be available, along with a wide variety of coloring books to choose pages from.  The next session will be Tuesday, January 12, from 6-7:30 pm. Future session will take place on February 9 and March 15.
