Welcome Aboard, Rajene Hardeman!
New HPL Trustee Rajene Hardeman (left) with Board President Prudence Posner

On Tuesday, February 3rd, Rajene Hardeman was sworn in as an HPL Trustee       until June 30, 2015.  She is replacing Shawn Waldron, who left the Board for

personal reasons.  On her application, Ms. Hardeman wrote:

"I'm a Beacon resident going on six years. Transplanted from NYC, because a

friend sent me to Long Dock to see the space Scenic Hudson was to transform,       and I fell in love with Beacon and the Hudson River on the spot. I have been a

volunteer crew member aboard the Clearwater on three separate occasions and

enjoy sailing the Hudson with the crew. I have worked Sundays as a docent at

    Dennings Point since 2011.

"My background as Resource/Account Coordinator at Ogilvy (14 years) really

helps me to understand good communication strategies and how to brainstorm       for heightened effect. In the early 2000s, I spent five years as a volunteer family       arts leader at Wave Hill Cultural Garden in Riverdale. I have always been

community oriented and aspire to complete a Masters in Library and Information     Science."

Rajene Hardeman brings with her a love of libraries and many skills that make         her one of HPL's MVAs (Most Valuable Assets). Welcome, Rajene!

February is Library Lovers' Month

Library Lovers' Month is a celebration of public, private, school, academic, and special libraries of all types. It's a time for everyone to recognize the value of libraries and to work to assure that libraries will continue to serve their communities for many years to come.  One easy way to support libraries in New York State is to take two minutes

or less to send a message. Show your support here.
