Library Façade Project Ready to Go

The Howland Public Library is pleased to announce that the long-awaited façade improvement project is underway.  As a public library serving the City of Beacon and beyond (the Beacon City School District), we also extend special thanks to the Mayor and City Council for awarding the library a Façade Improvement Project grant in the amount of $24,000, toward this exciting project.
Our city's drive to beautify Main Street is being carried forward by the installation of zinc covered panels (think roof tops of Paris when you think zinc!), covering the water stain above the west section of 313 and 311 Main Street. The Façade Improvement Project will also improve the library's insulation (thus lowering heating and cooling costs).  In addition, recessed LED lights will brighten evening strolls along Main Street as Beacon residents and visitors stop to admire the electronic art loop in the library window on Second Saturday.  Improved signage will add to the long term Main Street Market Square beautification program.

Sincerely,   Prudence Posner, President Howland Public Library Board of Trustees                                 |
