Overdue Amnesty Is On!

Howland Public Library will offer amnesty for overdue fines through July 14th. Return HPL overdue books, CDs, DVDs, and other items to the library during this time and pay no fines. Exceptions: does not apply to fees for lost or damaged items or to overdue items from other libraries.

Most library materials are purchased with public money for the good of the whole community. All we want is HPL's stuff back, so that your friends and neighbors can enjoy it, too.

Dig Into Summer Reading!

Children of all abilities ages 3-12 are encouraged to dig into HPL's 2013 Summer Reading Program. Children keep their reading logs at the library or online and log the minutes that they've read, or been read to, each day. To register online, click the "Summer Reading" link on our website. Readers may register until August 1st.

Dig Into Reading Thursdays: for children entering grades 1-6 beginning July 11th. Every Thursday at 1 PM through August 15th, performer/educators will dig up lots of learning fun ... from insects to rocks and minerals to animals.  View our exciting lineup on our calendar. No registration necessary.

Read-to-Me Club for children ages 3-6 will meet on Friday mornings between 10:45 - 11:45 AM from July 5th - August 16th. We'll dig our way through stories, songs, and fun crafts. No registration necessary.

Book/Craft Club beginning July 9th for children entering grades 4-6 in September. The club will meet Tuesday and Wednesday afternoons from 1-3:00 PM through August 14th to share a craft project, educational games, and discussions about the books that they read together. This club is limited to 20 children so parents/guardians must register beginning June 11th by contacting Ginny Figlia, Head of Youth Services at 831-1134 x 103 or email Ginny.

All children who log their time read will have their names sent to their schools for special recognition in September!

HPL SRP is made possible through the support of the Friends of the Howland Public Library, the Beacon Teacher's Association, the DC United Teacher's Council, and the Wee Play Community Project.
