delivering solutions to end domestic and dating violence

CASA MYRNA WELCOMES NEW CEO
Stephanie Brown CEO
Stephanie Brown, CEO

On July 1, Stephanie Brown officially became Casa Myrna's new Chief Executive Officer. Stephanie is no stranger to the agency. She first volunteered with us back in 1994 and is excited to be rejoining the team.

Stephanie brings over fifteen years of experience in social service, advocacy, management, and strategy. She joins us from her most recent role as Assistant Commissioner for Policy, Program and External Relations of the Massachusetts Department of Transitional Assistance (DTA). Her move to Casa Myrna is a natural extension of her work in nonprofits and government agencies ending family homelessness and addressing domestic and sexual violence.

10th AD CAMPAIGN FEATURED ON MASS TRANSIT

This May, Casa Myrna's tenth ad campaign launched on buses and trains in Boston and transit systems statewide.

Spring 2013 Ad Campaign
What are you not sharing with your friends? Domestic violence affects 1 in 3 women.

The ad, available in both English and Spanish, depicts three friends who may share make-up and day to day gossip, but not the serious issues of domestic or dating violence. As the ad notes, domestic violence affects 1 in 3 women.

Since 2008, Casa Myrna has created biannual advertisements to spread awareness about domestic and dating violence.

Each year, the ads reach thousands of transit riders and encourage them to call SafeLink for help and information.

AGENCY CELEBRATES

SURVIVOR SUCCESS

After Monica's partner put a gun to her head, she made a call to SafeLink. She needed a safe place to go right away. The SafeLink Advocate found a space at our emergency shelter so that Monica and her daughter could leave him behind and begin to rebuild their lives.

This past fiscal year (June 30 - July 1), Casa Myrna served Monica and more than 30,000 other women and children in our three shelters and comprehensive programs. We remain Boston's largest provider of shelter and supportive services to survivors of domestic and dating violence.
