An Important Message from Portico Health Benefits
Congregations and organizations in the synod are now selecting one ELCA-Primary health benefit option to provide in 2017. As part of our annual enrollment process, we require every sponsoring employer to select one 2017 health benefit option by October 28, even if all their plan members currently waive ELCA health benefits. This deadline is important because it enables us to prepare our systems for plan members to enter their 2017 benefit selections online Oct. 31 - Nov. 16.

Year of Matthew and Reformation 500
The year of Matthew, year A in the Revised Common Lectionary, is an opportunity for extended reflection on the Gospel of Matthew, the first of the New Testament gospel books. In the coming year 2017, marking the 500th anniversary of the dawn of a major reforming movement in the church, its message is particularly relevant. Invite your congregation into a small or large Book of Faith group study that explores this gospel using historical, literary, Lutheran, and devotional perspectives. Click for information about the leader guide and the learner guide. |

Thank you, Partners in Celebration!
Thank you for supporting Gathered by Grace, a new ministry development in Montgomery, AL engaging people age 18-40!
During the first quarter of 2016, through the Southeastern Synod's Partners in Celebration initiative, twenty-five individuals and one congregation offered gifts that were essential to Gathered by Grace's ministry start. Even before we had a formal name (then known as Greater Montgomery Young Adult Ministry), you supported our vision of young adults gathering around a meal to explore the scriptures and discuss how they are relevant in their lives today.
Over the summer, this vision for Dinner and Dialogue became a reality with young adults now gathering weekly in Montgomery for dinner and conversation; and, thanks to your contributions, the cost of dinner is not a barrier for anyone to participate. We have been able to tell the gathered community their meals are provided by partners all over the southeast who support their faith development.
Please continue to support our Southeastern Synod mission starts through Partners in Celebration; a different ministry will be featured and supported each quarter. Your financial gifts help mission congregations do important ministry in the communities we serve and remind us we are walking together as partners in ministry! (To learn more about Gathered by Grace and stay connected, please email gbgmin@gmail.com to sign up for our newsletter.)
