The Rev. David A. Parr
Bishop H. Julian Gordy has appointed the Rev. David A. Parr as dean of the Gulf Coast Deanery, conference 9.  Deans serve in the Southeastern Synod as an extension of the Office of the Bishop. They provide pastoral care to rostered leaders in their deaneries and also serve as communication liaisons to rostered leaders on behalf of Bishop Gordy.  In addition, deans support the synod staff in working with congregations in the call process, as needed.

Pastor Parr is currently serving as pastor of Grace Lutheran Church in Long Beach, MS. He and his wife Doris were called to ministry there in July of 2013, and immediately fell in love with the beautiful coastal area and the warm, friendly people.  A second career pastor, Pr. Parr is a 2013 graduate of Lutheran Theological Southern Seminary in Columbia, SC.

The Gulf Coast deanery was served by the Rev. Dr. Susan Montgomery until her retirement and resignation as dean in October, 2015.  Subsequently, the Rev. Tom Clark provided care to both the Gulf Coast and the Jackson Area deaneries by driving, calling and even video conferencing.

Bishop Gordy said, "Even though Pr. Clark has gone above and beyond expectations in fulfilling his call as dean, he and I are in agreement that it is time to fill the vacant dean position. We are grateful for Pr. Parr's willingness to serve, and ask that you welcome him and pray for him as he begins this service to the deanery and to our church."
