National Women's Health Week - National Men's Health Week
Written by Connie Pearson, RN, MN, who serves as Chair of the Southeastern Synod Health Ministries Task Force.
National Women's Health Week was celebrated May 8 - 14. Since I am writing for the June E-news, I went to the National Health Observances list for June and found that National Men's health Week is June 13 - 19. The purpose of both of these weeks is to increase awareness of preventable health problems and to encourage early detection, treatment and participation in lifestyle changes that can reduce the risk of a variety of health issues. The James R. Crumley, Jr. Archives
I am Pr. David Seymour and I am the development officer for The James R. Crumley, Jr. Archives. There are nine regions in the ELCA and each region maintains an established archives to preserve and maintain the history and major news events of this church. The Crumley Archives is the archives for Region Nine that stretches across the Southeast, from Virginia to the Caribbean.
The Crumley Archives are located on the campus of Lutheran Theological Southern Seminary in Columbia, SC. It houses records from six centuries, thirteen generations, in twenty languages, and is among the most heavily consulted ELCA archives. You may learn more at www.crumleyarchives.org.
We have arrived at the time when the Crumley Archives needs to expand to carry out its ministry to the ELCA institutions, synods, and congregations in the Southeast United States and Caribbean.
This is where you come in.
The Crumley Archives depends on the generosity of individual Lutherans for nearly 80% of its operating budget. We need both your prayers and your financial support.
The Crumley Archives is a non-profit, tax-exempt organization. Donations may be sent to:
The James R. Crumley, Jr. Archives
4201 Main Street
Columbia, SC 29203
The Crumley Archives is more than a depository for institutional records; it tells the story of the church, the Lutheran expression of the Body of Christ, moving and acting throughout the area now designated as Region Nine. It is an amazing, divine story that must be preserved. Won't you do your part to help?
Yours in Christ,
David +

Christians are suffering in Iraq and Syria, in Nigeria and Egypt. Palestinian Christians encounter intense pressure. Christians in some parts of India are threatened. Some would even claim that U.S. Christians are under siege. Atrocities committed against Christians by the Islamic State, Boko Haram, al-Shabab and others are regularly in the news. We hear that more Christians have been martyred in recent years than in the first three centuries of the Christian movement. Continue.
