Divine foolishness
Christ crucified is God's clearest and most complete act of love

The Rev. Mary Peters Appointed Dean

In consultation with Bishop H. Julian Gordy, Acting Bishop Delmer Chilton has appointed the Rev. Mary Peters as Dean of the Trinity Conference, effective September 1.  Pr. Peters serves as Pastor of Member Care at Lutheran Church of the Redeemer, Atlanta, GA.

"Pr. Peters is respected as a leader by both her colleagues

and those she serves at Lutheran Church of the Redeemer," says Acting Bishop Chilton.  "Her care and concern for others are gifts to the church and gifts she

brings to her role as dean."  Deans serve in the Southeastern Synod as an extension of the Office of the Bishop.  They provide pastoral care to rostered leaders in their deaneries and also serve as communication liaisons to rostered leaders on behalf of Bishop Gordy.

Pr. Peters replaces the Rev. Hugh Williams who has served as dean for many years and is retiring from service.  "Pr. Williams has served the Southeastern Synod faithfully as a dean, member of the Candidacy Committee, parish pastor, and interim pastor.  We are grateful for his service and for his humble example of a life lived in commitment to the gospel," says Chilton.
