Forest Preserves News
Small land purchase offers big benefits for trail users
The Lake County Forest Preserve Board of Commissioners recently purchased a 1-acre addition to Hastings Lake Forest Preserve in Lake Villa. The preserve is currently under construction with a pending opening in late fall 2013. Though small in size, the parcel of land provides the missing link needed to complete a 2-mile trail loop around the preserve's 80-acre lake offering big benefits for trail users. Construction of boardwalks and a few sections of new trail to connect the trail loop will begin in August. Check the Forest Preserve website (LCFPD.org) for information on the preserve's opening date.
