Voting By Mail

 vote by mail

Registered voters may request an application for ballot online. After confirming  registration at LakeVoterPower.info, voters select "Request a Ballot by Mail" and follow the links to the application. Voters must print, sign, and date the form before mailing it to the Lake County Clerk's office. 
An application may also be requested via email at VotingByMail@lakecountyil.gov or calling 847.377.2406. The last day to request a ballot is April 4.

Grace Period Registration

 

Grace period registration for Lake County residents will be available March 13 - April 6 at the Lake County Clerk's office in Waukegan, and March 25 - April 6, at the Lake County Central Permit Facility in Libertyville. Hours are Monday - Friday from 8:30 a.m. until 5 p.m. and on Saturday March 30 and April 6 from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.
Applicants must be U.S. citizens, residents of their precinct for 30 days before Election Day, 18 years old on or before the election, and provide two forms of identification. Those who register under the grace period provision must vote at the time of registration. 

Early Voting

 

Every registered voter has the convenient in-person early voting option. State law requires early voters to provide a current, government-issued photo ID. Identification with an address different from registration record will require voters to present additional verification. 
Starting Monday, March 25 until Saturday, April 6, all early voting sites are open Monday-Friday from 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. and on Saturday from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Registered voters may visit LakeVoterPower.info to see a picture of their voting site, sample ballot, and get driving directions.

Lake County Receives 'Sunny Award' for Transparency

 

For the fourth straight year, Lake County has won a Sunny Award and an A+  transparency grade for its website from Sunshine Review, a national non-profit organization dedicated to government transparency. Lake County is one of only two counties in Illinois to receive the A+ grade.  Check out our new Transparency/Open Gov web page.

E-Filing Court System Moves Forward Giving the Public Greater Access to Court Records

 

The public will soon be able to remotely access basic Lake County court information from a computer, providing them with greater ease of use and efficiency - free of charge. Clerk of the Circuit Court Keith S. Brin recently made a presentation to the Lake County Board on the new E-filing program, which includes public access and electronic filing. The County Board approved about $1 million for the project, which is funded with court fees. 
 
The new system creates a seamless, efficient, user-friendly connection between the courts and those utilizing the courts. Users can access information from their computers -day or night -from a location that is most convenient and efficient for them. 
 
This public access will be available within the next 30 to 60 days, while the next phase of E-filing that allows individuals to actually file a civil case electronically will be available later this year. 
 
The Executive Justice Council, which is made up of Lake County's justice partners, including the 19th Judicial Circuit Court, the Circuit Court Clerk, the State's Attorney, the Public Defender, the Sheriff, and the Lake County Board, recommended these enhancements.
