Tollway Board to Consider Rt. 53 Project

 

Play videoOn Thursday, June 28, the Lake County Tollway Board will consider the Illinois Route 53/120 Blue Ribbon Advisory Council's recommendation to move forward with the Illinois Route 53/120 Corridor project in Lake County. The council's report outlines a project that protects environmental concerns while creating a 'modern parkway' envisioned for the region. The council was co-chaired by myself and George Ranney, President and CEO of Metropolis Strategies. The recommendations reflect the will of the diverse group of people including local elected officials, transportation and planning agencies and environmental, civic, business and labor representatives.  If this project is important to you, please attend the Illinois Tollway Board meeting on June 28 and share your comments.

SWALCO Chemical Waste Pickup in Deerfield on July 7 

 

Chemicals

SWALCO will hold a Mobile Household Chemical Waste (HCW) Event on July 7 at Deerfield High School, 1959 North Waukegan Road, in Deerfield, IL.   Residents from around the county may simply come to the mobile location between 8 a.m. and 2:30 p.m. to drive through and drop off their HCW materials. Please visit the SWALCO website for a general list of items that are and are not accepted. 

New Code Enforcement Hearings for Nuisance Violations in Unincorporated Lake County

Play video When a property falls into disrepair, or when a person's actions create a public nuisance, it can cause health or safety issues for neighbors. For nuisance violations in unincorporated Lake County, such as tall grass and weeds, junk and debris, animals running at large, noise complaints and minor health violations, there is a new Code Enforcement Hearing process for resolving these cases quickly.

Lake County and other community partners recently gathered at the 3rd annual Lake County Green Conference at the College of Lake County to collaborate on sustainable practices and partnerships. The goal of the conference was to highlight social, economic and environmental sustainability amongst businesses, citizens, and government agencies in Lake County.

Three bats have tested positive for rabies in Lake County in the last few weeks. Lake County Health Department Senior Biologist, Mike Adam, gives Lake County residents valuable information about avoiding rabid bats, and how to report a suspected rabid bat to the Animal Care and Control division for rabies testing. Mini Job Fair/Internship Job Fair - June 27, 2012

College of Lake County will be hosting a Mini Job Fair to recruit for full-time, part-time, internship, and seasonal jobs for CLC students, alumni, and community residents.
