Illinois Route 53/120 Blue Ribbon Advisory Council Holds Workshop in February Watch Videos of Presentations from Workshop
The Illinois Route 53/120 Blue Ribbon Advisory Council is working to identify consensus around options for the Illinois Route 53 corridor in central Lake County and develop a framework of principles to guide future study of the corridor configuration, timing and financing. The Illinois Tollway will look to the Advisory Council to recommend a series of best practices for an integrated, multi-modal corridor that is financially viable, environmentally sustainable and socially responsible. The council is co-chaired by County Board Chairman David Stolman and George Ranney, President and CEO of Metropolis Strategies and Prairie Holdings Corporation. The council will present its initial recommendations to the Tollway Board by spring 2012.
In February, the advisory council held an all day workshop to assist council members in crafting a common vision for the future of the corridor. Members compared various scenarios for how an extension could be designed and considered factors such as access, roadway and intersection design, environmental enhancements, and land use policies for adjacent development.
Watch videos from the workshop, including an overview and presentations.
Also, visit the Illinois Tollway's Illinois Route 53/120 Blue Ribbon Advisory Council website for council information, reports and documents, and materials from the working groups. |
