Buffalo Grove Road Improvements Study
IL Route 22 to Deerfield Parkway
Buffalo Grove, Lake County, Illinois
Public Information Meeting #1
Lake County Division of Transportation invites you to attend a Public Meeting regarding the proposed road improvement study of the Buffalo Grove Road corridor between IL Route 22 to Deerfield Parkway through the Village of Buffalo Grove, IL. The purpose of the meeting is to solicit public comment, and gather information to supplement the existing conditions data. Maps and exhibits will be available for viewing at the public meeting.
Details regarding the public meeting are indicated below:

Location: Twin Groves Middle School

Format: Open House
Staff from the Lake County Division of Transportation and our engineering consultant, Gewalt Hamilton Associates, Inc., will be available to discuss the existing roadway conditions and answer questions. Written comments may be completed at the meeting or mailed in prior to the close of the comment period on November 22, 2011. Mailed comments are to be sent to Mr. Chuck Gleason at the Lake County Division of Transportation, 600 West Winchester Road, Libertyville, IL 60048-1381. You may also submit your comments on the project website at www.hlplanning.com/buffalogrove. All interested persons are invited to attend the public information open house for this project and provide their comments.
The meeting will be accessible to persons with a disability. Anyone in need of special assistance and planning to attend should contact the County by November 3, 2011. If you are unable to attend, please provide your comments to us by November 22, 2011. University Center of Lake County Open House
One Stop College Shopping
November 9th from 6pm-8pm
Features 19 Illinois Colleges
Adults looking to complete a degree program can shop close to 100 programs from 19 colleges all in one place when The University Center of Lake Country hosts its College Open House on November 9. The event, from 6 to 8 p.m., is being held at their state-of-the art Grayslake facility. The Center is located at 1200 University Center Drive, near the intersection of Washington Street and Lancer Lane. Reserve a place at the open house by visiting www.ucenter.org.
The college open house will showcase approximately 100 programs available at the University Center of Lake County in Grayslake, Great Lakes Naval Training Center in North Chicago, or via online study. The program offerings enable students to complete a bachelor's degree, earn a graduate degree or pursue a professional certificate. Representatives from the University Center's member schools will be on site to answer questions and provide further information about their programs.

Illinois Hardest Hit Fund
Emergency Forgivable Loans of up to $25,000 for Families Facing Foreclosure
The State of Illinois and the U.S. Department of the Treasury are working together to assist 15,000 Illinois homeowners struggling to pay their mortgage. The Illinois Hardest Hit Fund will provide families facing foreclosure with some much-needed breathing room while they get back on their feet.
In Lake County, residents will be working with the Affordable Housing Corporation of Lake County, a nonprofit HUD-certified agency, to obtain free guidance and loan coordination services.
Eligible participants of the Illinois Hardest Hit Fund may receive up to $25,000 as a 10-year loan to bring their mortgage current, and to assist with ongoing monthly payments for up to 18 months. The loan is forgiven over the last 5 years of the 10-year term, and carries no interest.
Eligibility criteria includes, but is not limited to:
- Household has experienced a 25% reduction in income due to unemployment or under- employment through no fault of their own.
- Gross household income does not exceed 120% of area median income ($89,750 for a family of four).
- Principal loan balance is less than $500,000.
- Household liquid assets do not exceed 3 months mortgage payment.
- Property must be located in Illinois, may be a 1-4 unit building, and must be the primary and only residence of all borrowers/owners.
- Homeowners must have a fixed-rate or adjustable-rate loan; interest-only and negative amortization loan not allowed.
- Delinquency and necessary assistance may not exceed $25,000.
- Applicants have not been convicted of a mortgage-related felony in the last 10 years.
To begin, applicants must log onto www.illinoishardesthit.org, the official and only website of the program. There is no fee to apply. Homeowners are encouraged to be aware of the prevalence of mortgage assistance fraud; no genuine assistance program requires a fee.
Applicants are also encouraged to attend an information session at the Affordable Housing Corporation of Lake County by contacting www.ahclc.org or 847/263-7478. This will help homeowners better understand the program, and assist them in submitting their application package properly so as to avoid delays.

COLLECTION of Fire Extinguishers, Smoke Detectors, Carbon Monoxide Detectors

Long Grove Fire Protection District in cooperation with the Village of Long Grove will be collecting household fire extinguishers, smoke detectors and carbon monoxide detectors,
Monday, November 7 thru Friday, November 11, at the fire station located at 1165 Old McHenry Road from 8:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. each day.
