Construction information from Illinois Department of Transportation

The Illinois Department of Transportation (IDOT) will be patching portions of Milwaukee Avenue from Route 60 to Route 22, and resurfacing Olde Half Day Road (north of Route 22), from Milwaukee Avenue to Route 22. To date, IDOT has not provided specific start times for this work. However, we have been informed that the work is scheduled to be performed in the next 2 to 3 weeks.
Should you have any specific questions about this project, you can contact IDOT at 847.705.4000, or you can find construction information at http://www.gettingaroundillinois.com/mapviewer.aspx?mt=cons
Half Day Road Concrete Pavement - On Friday, September 16, 2011, the contractor is tentatively scheduled to place the concrete pavement on Route 22 (Half Day Road) from east of I-94 to Telegraph Road. IL 22 will have additional lane closures in order to deliver the concrete. IL 22 will be down to one lane with flaggers in place allowing only one direction of traffic to pass at a time.

METRA RAILROAD TRACKS CLOSING-The METRA railroad tracks on Route 22 (Half Day) west of IL 43 (Waukegan) will be closed from October 5 - October 12.
DETOUR ROUTE: Riverwoods Road south to Deerfield Road. Telegraph Road north to Everett Road. Local traffic will have limited access to Dunsinane Lane and Broadleys Court. You will not be able to cross the tracks in either direction. Motorists traveling through the area on paving days should expect longer than normal construction delays and find alternate routes if possible. Motorists should pay close attention to the numerous Changeable Message Signs located on both IL 22 and IL 43 as the messages will be updated frequently as the specific dates become known. |
Board Adopts a New Streamlined Enforcement Process for Nuisance Violations
The Lake County Board adopted a new ordinance that aims to speed up code compliance and nuisance violations in the unincorporated area of the county, as well as reduce the cost to government for code enforcement. The Administrative Adjudication Ordinance addresses minor code violations such as junk, debris, and animal control. Through this new process, violators will be issued a ticket, or violation notice and given 15 days to comply. If necessary, it will go to an administrative hearing where a hearing officer will issue a ruling.
Previously, these violations had to go through the circuit court, taking 333 days (on average) to be resolved. The new process is expected to take between a month and 6 weeks for minor violations, while more complex cases may still be handled in circuit court. The Board also created a new enforcement category called "chronic nuisances," which allows the County additional remedies to address repeat nuisance violations. For questions, contact Planning Building and Development at 847-377-2600. |

The council is co-chaired by County Board Chairman David Stolman and George Ranney, President and CEO Metropolis Strategies and Prairie Holding Corporation. The Tollway created the commission to develop regional concensus on whether the tollway should move forward with the project, and make recommendations on how it should look and how it should be funded.
