Ved Nanda Book Launch Event
Public talk with author Ved Nanda celebrates the publication of Our World To Make
Ved Nanda is co-author, with Daisaku Ikeda, of our newest publication, Our World To Make: Hinduism, Buddhism, and the Rise of Global Civil Society. On Saturday, September 26, Dr. Nanda traveled to Cambridge from his home in Denver to discuss key themes from the book. His remarks celebrated friendship among individuals as well as the friendship toward humanity demonstrated by the individuals and NGOs who work internationally to promote human rights, universal education, and the rule of law. Dr. Nanda is a professor of international law at the University of Denver. Among many notable positions he holds or has held in global civil society, he is past president of the World Jurist Association and now its honorary president, and is currently a member of the advisory council of the United States Institute of Human Rights. An Explicit Commitment To Peace
New interview with Peter Stearns explore themes from his book Peace In World History
Peter Stearns is University Professor and Provost Emeritus at George Mason University. His areas of research and teaching include world history, social history, globalization, and the history of emotions. This interview covers themes related to his 2014 title, Peace in World History. "We should be spending as much time talking about the causes of peace as the the causes of war," Stearns tells us, "rather than assuming that peace is somehow a minor interlude between conflicts."
Please join Provost Stearns for a look at the past, present, and future of peace!
