Dear Parents and the Community,

The Board of Education and I wish to thank you for supporting the goals of the district by approving the 2016-17 school budget. The overwhelming margin of YES votes, 64 percent, shows that we have a community that shares our educational goals and understands that we indeed are careful stewards of their resources.

Also, please join me in congratulating Vincent Graci and Christopher Pinchiaroli on their election to the school board. I look forward to working with them over the next three years as we continue the good work of the district together.

I also wish to extend a very special thank you to Theresa Fowler for her many years of service to the community as a board of education member, as the board vice president and president. Finally, thank you to Celia Cannata for stepping up to run as a board candidate. Service as a school board member is one of the most important jobs in a community and all candidates should be recognized for their willingness to serve.

As we prepare for the year ahead and consider what "can be" in Mount Pleasant, we do so together with a shared spirit and belief in our children and their education.
