Dear Parents and the Community,

We are a week away from the budget vote and school board elections on Tuesday, May 17.

Much work has been done in the planning for this budget with considerable and appreciated input from the staff, administrators and the Citizens Budget Advisory Committee. The members of the Citizens Budget Advisory Committee volunteered their time to understand the components of the budget and took that information to the community. The feedback solicited was helpful in crafting the 2016-17 budget, which reflects the most important needs of our students, buildings and residents and remains under the property tax cap.

The committee presented its recommendations to the board of education at the April work session. A taped recap of the presentation is on the district website under "Board of Ed Meetings" in the quick link section or by clicking below.

Additionally, last evening, candidates for the board of education shared their views on school district issues and answered questions from the audience at Meet the Candidates Night. The session was taped and is also available on the district website under the BOE meeting link and below.

We are grateful to have community members who take an active role in the school district. Please share your support by viewing the videos and voting on Tuesday, May 17 from 7 a.m. to 9 p.m. in the Westlake High School gym.

Best,

Sue
