Dear Parents and the Community,

This morning at 10:55 a.m., the district was notified by the Mount Pleasant Police Department of a suspicious package and police activity at Rose Hill Shopping Center.

In response to this information, we notified the principals that all high school and middle school students and staff should remain on the Westlake campus during their lunch periods.
We were advised that the Columbus Elementary campus was not affected nor would be part of the investigation. Hawthorne Elementary was not affected at all.

At 11:20 a.m., the police department gave the all-clear that the situation was resolved.

Events such as this make us cognizant that our students' and staff's safety is something that we place above everything and we strive to be proactive, communicative and prepared for any situation.

Thank you for your understanding.

Regards,

Sue
