Dear Parents and the Community,

Today during the morning bus runs, a fire extinguisher on Royal Coach bus #8 to Columbus Elementary malfunctioned and discharged en route to the school. No students were injured. 

Currently, the event is being carefully examined and initial findings indicate that the discharge appears to have been accidental.  All students riding the bus were evaluated by the nurse and any student experiencing respiratory discomfort was immediately attended to by the school nurse and emergency responders.  All parents/guardians of students who were on Columbus bus #8 this morning have been contacted regarding this incident.  

The district is working closely with Royal Coach management and its safety team to address this incident appropriately and to prevent this type of occurrence from happening in the future.
