What are we doing to educate our

children for their future?

Is it enough to reform our system of teaching
or do we need to reinvent it?

The Mount Pleasant Board of Education is pleased

as an important step in the formulation of the
next five-year strategic plan.

As the district plans for the next five years and beyond, it is important to consider research and study done in the field of education that points to clear markers of success in the twenty first century. An important wave in educational advancement led by Harvard Innovation Lab expert-in-residence Tony Wagner, Ed.D says that in this burgeoning innovation era, what a student knows is not as important as what he will be able to do with what what he knows.

Wagner's book "Most Likely to Succeed," coauthored with former venture capitalist and entrepreneur Ted Dintersmith, was made into a documentary and screened at the 2015 Sundance Film Festival to wide acclaim.

"Wagner and Dintersmith cut through the noise to demonstrate how our education system must move from a myopic focus on high-stakes testing to an emphasis on preparing students more holistically for life, career, college and citizenship."
- Randi Weingarten, American Federation of Teachers
"As a conversation starter "Most Likely" is among the best edu-documentaries ever produced. It is a provocation rather than a prescription."
- Tom Vander Ark, Education Week
"We bring people together to see the film and then people are sort of fired up and say, 'We are changing things, we are going to make a difference.'"
- Ted Dintersmith in an interview with Huffington Post editor Rebecca Klein

Please join us on April 27 and/or April 30 as we learn about the transformation of schools to provide opportunities for student success and to begin the conversation of how this impacts our educational system in Mount Pleasant.
