Dear Parents and the Community,

Earlier this school year, the district advertised for the position "Elementary Supervisor of Special Education" that included CSE chairing responsibilities as part of the job description. The district hoped to fill the position this year, but with a mid-year start date, the candidate pool was very limited. While the position has been re-advertised with a July 1, 2016 start date to attract a larger pool of applicants, the need for additional support to chair CSE meetings for this school year remained.

At this past Wednesday's school board meeting, the board appointed Ann Brennan as a CSE chairperson in the area of special education to assist with CSE chairing responsibilities. Ms. Brennan will work alongside Susan Lockhart, the interim director of pupil personnel, and Dara Joseph, the secondary supervisor of special education, to chair CSE meetings during annual review season.

Ann is a familiar face to many as she worked with the district a few years ago as an interim director of special education. Since she left Mount Pleasant, Ann has been busy with family and other projects and was looking for a part-time way to contribute to the realm of special education. When she learned of our part-time need for a CSE chairperson, she reached out to us. We are excited to have an experienced chairperson to work with our special education team during the very busy annual review process.  

Please join me in welcoming Ann back to Mount Pleasant through June 2016.
