Dear Parents and the Community,

I'd like to share this update on our ongoing efforts to ensure our school buildings are critter free.

The Westlake campus continues to be monitored for evidence of pest activity and our maintenance staff continues its proactive measures to inhibit access to the facility and food sources.

Dr. Matthew Frye of the Cornell Cooperative Extension was invited to the middle school last week to assess our situation and share his expertise on keeping woodland animals out of our buildings. Together with representatives of the MPTA, WMS Principal Dr. Adam Bronstein, Director of Business, Andrew Lennon, Director of Facilities Ed Kear and myself, Dr. Frye inspected both the exterior and interior of the middle school. We are happy to report - as previously noted by the board of health - no evidence of an infestation was found.

Dr. Frye will provide the district with a report detailing the inspection, along with recommendations for our ongoing work to prevent further unwanted guests in our schools.

Additionally, the board of health visited the middle school for a second time in as many weeks. And, as before, representatives found no evidence of a rodent infestation.

We remain vigilant and cautiously hopeful that unwanted pests will not find their way into our schools.

If you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to contact me. Thank you for your ongoing support.

Sincerely,

Sue
