Dear Parents and the Community,

I am writing to inform you that at last evening's work session, the Board of Education accepted the resignation of Robin Tepper, the district's director of special education. Ms. Tepper, who joined Mount Pleasant Schools during the last school year, submitted her resignation for personal reasons. We wish to thank Ms. Tepper for her service to the district and wish her well in her future endeavors.

While we immediately will begin a search to fill this position, the district has appointed Susan Lockhart as the interim special education director. Ms. Lockhart, a seasoned educator with many years of administrative and teaching experience in the area of special education, most recently served as the Harrison Public Schools' director of special education prior to her retirement last year. She will join the district on Sept. 16.

I invite parents of special education students to meet with me this Friday, Sept. 11, at 11 a.m. in the Hawthorne Elementary School Multipurpose Room or at 6 p.m. in the Westlake library to discuss the goals and leadership for the special education program.

Please be assured that the students' daily routines and services will not be impacted through this transition and every effort will be made to make this transition a smooth one.

If you have any questions, please feel free to contact me.

Regards,

Sue
