Ice Cats Skate in Sectionals Today!

Mount Pleasant Ice Cats vs. Horace Greeley

Westchester Skating Academy in Elmsford

Landing in a three-way tie for League Champs, the Ice Cats will face off with Horace Greeley today as the ice hockey Sectionals begin. Come and cheer on Westlake players: Richie Cantwell, Nick Barbero, Mike Sala and Kyle Dearborn.

 

Lady Wildcats vs Ardsley in Semi-Finals Tomorrow!

Feb. 24, 4:30 p.m.
at the County Center
  
After a decisive 59-38 victory over Valhalla last week, the #3 ranked Lady Wildcats, led by seniors Katie Schmid, Katie Cullen and Faith Lovett, will go up against #2 Ardsley tomorrow, Feb. 24, at 4:30 p.m. at the County Center. 
  
There will be a section for Westlake fans so come on out in your blue and white to cheer the team to victory!  While Section 1 does not allow signs or noisemakers of any kind, our Westlake section will have complimentary blue and white shakers for our fans. Please arrive by 4 p.m. There is an $8 admission fee.

 
Sectional Results: 
Indoor Track: Westlake's indoor track team placed third out of 14 teams  
and had some Class C Sectional winners:  
Class C Champs:
1st Place 4x200m Relay: Rob Soderquist, Mike Matute, Umair Azhar and 
                                         Oscar Mellado Escobar

1st Place Triple Jump: Adam Cato
1st Place Weight Throw: Peter Giannini

2nd Place Long Jump: Rob Soderquist  
2nd Place High Jump: Umair Azhar
2nd Place Shot Put: Peter Giannini  
Umair Azhar and Peter Vogel qualified to compete in the Section 1 state qualifier for high jump and George Anastasiou qualified in the pole vault.

Wrestling: Westlake wrestlers placed 8th as a team in Sectionals held on February 13-14 at Westlake.
Ryan Duffy (138) and Matthew Zefi (220) took 3rd place; Robert DiNota (120) and Jon Palmiero (195) took 4th place and Andrew Borrero (220) and Paul Sacchetti (285) took 6th place. 

Boys' Basketball: In sectional play, eleventh ranked Westlake fell one basket short of knocking off #6 Palisades Prep on Feb. 18 by a score of 49-47.

Boys' Swimming: The combined swim team finished fifth in a very tough division in the sectional trials.

Nationals:
Cheerleading: Westlake Cheerleaders went to the 2015 Universal Cheerleaders Association (UCA) National High School Cheerleading Championship in Orlando, Fla., on Feb. 7 and 8. The team placed 10th overall in the small varsity coed division.
