President's Perspective
Dear Foundation Friends,

Ten months into our inaugural year, there is quite a "buzz" about our very first fundraiser -- the Grown-Up Spelling Bee. What better way to show our support for our educators than to have a grand time at an event that promotes our spelling prowess!

I want to thank all of our sponsors and volunteers for making the spelling bee happen. Your support is vital to our success!

Sincerely,

Jeff Barry
Board President

How Do You Spell F-U-N?

You don't have to be a champion speller to join in the f-u-n. The Pearland ISD Education Foundation still needs sponsors and spectators for its first-ever Grown-Up Spelling Bee Thursday, Nov. 13, 7 p.m. in the Dawson High School auditorium. Although team slots have already been filled, event sponsorship opportunities are still available through Oct. 24. Proceeds will support innovative educational programs and activities that fall outside the district's operating budget.

Grant Spotlight: Ruth Mondich & Team

Shadycrest Elementary Life Skills teacher Ruth Mondich and a team of three other educators won a foundation grant to support "Abilities Awareness Week" activities at their campus. The program gives students a better understanding and appreciation of differences, including people who live with disabilities. "A sincere thank-you to the Pearland ISD Education Foundation for funding this worthy grant!" Mondich said.
