President's Perspective
Dear Foundation Friends,

A new beginning! I have served on many boards in the Pearland area, and each one has had a special purpose I felt passionate about.

What excites me most about this new beginning for the Pearland ISD Education Foundation is the many great things we can do to enhance learning for students and enrich learning for teachers. I am especially proud of our board of directors and Pearland ISD partners for establishing something so special.

To all of the teachers, children, administrators and parents of Pearland ISD . . . welcome to a new beginning!

S
incerely,

Jeff Barry
Board President

Opportunity to Make a Difference

In 2013, Pearland ISD was reaching more than 20,000 students, but state and federal funding were not keeping pace. The community saw an opportunity to make a difference. Run by a volunteer board, the Pearland ISD Education Foundation allows community members, businesses and organizations to fund classroom programs and projects that fall outside the district's general operating budget.

Grant Spotlight: Lisa Brooks

As a speech-language pathologist at Sam Jamison Middle School/Pearland Junior High South, Lisa Brooks used her foundation grant to attend the American Speech and Hearing Association School Conference this summer. "I've been able to apply newly-acquired information to my speech therapy and plan to share information with other district speech-language pathologists," Brooks said.
