Preble High School, Green Bay, WI
Green Bay Public Schools
Green Bay, WI United States

Serving more than 20,000 students, the Green Bay Area Public School District includes four high schools, five middle schools, 26 elementary schools and one community school. Like all public entities faced with tighter operating budgets, it was under mandate to reduce its total energy consumption and expenses.

The District began with a number of objectives: reduced energy consumption, improved air quality, cost savings, system integration and expandability, etc. It chose Automated Logic for an elementary school and three high schools, all major renovation projects.

A number of conservation strategies were implemented, including building pre-cooling, setpoint optimization, boiler modulation and demand reduction. Hallway lighting is set to class schedules, and classroom lighting is controlled by occupancy sensors.

One star of the District's program has been Danz Elementary School. Ranked by Focus on Energy(SM), the state's public-private energy information and services partnership, to be in the lowest 20% in the state for heating and cooling efficiency (as determined by usage per square foot for building type), the school surged to the top 5% following its Automated Logic retrofit. Before, Danz operated at one of the highest cost-per-square-foot within the District; it now operates at the District's lowest.

Air Filter Market to Grow at 5.6% CAGE - Driven by Indoor Air Quality Concerns to 2020

According to the 2016 air filters market report, air filter plays a significant role in maintaining the indoor air quality as it is one of the main components in HVAC systems. Indoor air quality has gained attention in recent years as poor air quality affects the productivity, health, and comfort of occupants. Estimates by the US Environment Protection Agency (EPA) suggest that people spend 90% of their time indoors, which justifies the reason for the growing concern over IAQ. Organizations such as WHO and those in various countries around the globe have set guidelines for IAQ standards; this has been a primary driver for the growth of the air filter market.

The analysts forecast the global air filter market to grow at a CAGR of 5.6% during the period 2016-2020. Poor IAQ has led to health issues such as sick building syndrome, building-related illnesses, and multiple chemical sensitivity (MCS) or environmental illness these factors have resulted in the framing of new guidelines and regulations for commercial buildings, which has accelerated the demand for better air filters in the HVAC systems used in commercial buildings. Furthermore, the growth in construction activities in the US and the massive resurgence in urban infrastructure construction activities in APAC will fuel the growth of air filters
