RS Components Corby, England
RS Components (operating as Allied Electronics in the US) World Head-quarters consists of a large office and warehouse complex serving nearly 3,000 staff. The complex is responsible for distributing more than 130,000 technical products, such as electronic parts.
Unique problems to solve: RS Components originally had different brands of control systems installed throughout the complex. High operating costs were being incurred because systems were outdated and were being operated independently since they could not "talk" to one another.

AIRSTREAM™ Hydronic Fan Coils Now Offer Multi-Protocol Support
Carrier® AIRSTREAM™ hydronic fan coils now offer multi-protocol support as a factory installed option. These native BACnet® i-Vu® controllers feature support for Carrier's new ZS space sensors, which can monitor temperature and humidity levels as well as naturally occurring pollutants throughout the building. Based on sensor readings, i-Vu controllers can op timize fan coil operation to provide optimum comfort for occupants while also helping to reduce energy costs for building owners.
In addition, these i-Vu controllers support plug-and-play connectivity to the powerful Carrier i-Vu® building automation system, which provides building operators the ability to monitor and control their HVAC system from anywhere in the world using a standard web-enabled device such as a tablet or smartphone. And, if local control is also desired, an i-Vu Touch color touchscreen can be mounted in the building to manage the system as a new addition.
For added flexibility, the i-Vu controllers can also be integrated with any existing building automation system using the BACnet®, Modbus®, LonWorks®, and N2 protocols.

------------------------------- Control Solutions Introduces Non-Bound LonWorks Gateways
Control Solutions has introduced five new network gateways useful in integrating legacy LonWorks based equipment into updated BACnet or Modbus networks. These gateways use a non-bound polled interface to LonWorks devices making them accessible from BACnet or Modbus networks without additional LonWorks network management tools.
The Babel Buster BB2-6020-NB replaces the legacy Babel Buster X2 for connecting LonWorks devices to a Modbus TCP network. The BB2-2010-NB is used to connect LonWorks devices to a Modbus RTU network. Read full story here.
