WPPI Energy Office & Operations Facility
Sun Prairie, WI, United States

WPPI Energy is a regional power company serving 51 customer-owned utilities that provide electricity to more than 195,000 homes and businesses in Wisconsin, Upper Michigan, and Iowa. The company had outgrown their Office and Operations Facility in Sun Prairie, WI, and recently expanded to double the size of their original building from 25,000 to 50,000 square feet.

The newly expanded WPPI Energy headquarters facility provides additional conference rooms and work space, plus an employee fitness center and break room. The facility also incorporates many elements of sustainable design, including solar tubes and daylighting, high performance light fixtures, energy efficient plumbing, photovoltaic panels, and a geothermal heating and cooling system with heat recovery ventilation.

With sustainability on their minds, WPPI Energy consulted with Temperature Systems, Inc. (TSI), a Carrier Distributor in Madison, WI, to help design the control system for the newly expanded building. There were many challenges associated with the expansion, but based on a previously relationship with Shane Lyle, the Controls Manager for TSI, they knew that they could count on him to design an integrated control solution to meet all of their needs.

Connect With Opportunity

We would like to invite you to take part in our Global Roadshow. It will span 2014 and 2015 and celebrates the 10th DIN EN ISO anniversary and the 20th ANSI anniversary of the BACnet standard. The Roadshow focusses on the benefits of BACnet for sustainable buildings in terms of construction, retrofitting and the integration in smart grids. It includes a state-of-the-art exhibition and provides the latest information about:
  • Open communication in building automation,
  • Development of standardization,
  • Interoperability of BACnet devices,
  • BTL Listing and European Certification,
  • BACnet vendors and suppliers.

Therefore the roadshow will be a decisive meeting point for BACnet users in the Americas, Europe, Middle East, Africa and Asia Pacific - and a fantastic networking platform for planners, integrators, specifiers, facility managers, owners, investors and manufacturers of building automation devices and systems.

Our goal is to increase the global awareness for BACnet. We will introduce the newest capabilities of building management systems and demonstrate the benefits of BACnet applications. We will give an update on the standard and develop new fruitful partnerships with planners, specifiers, operators and investors in industry, services and public administration. And we will encourage the establishment and nurturing of local interest groups of users, developers, providers of smart grids and IT infrastructure and local distributors.

Seize the day and confirm your participation in the international market. The global roadshow is the first worldwide event which is commonly hosted by BACnet International and the BACnet Interest Group Europe.

We are looking forward to meet you in one of the roadshow locations. Please click here for more information about the BACnet Global Roadshow.

Sierra Monitor Corporation Announces BTL-Certification for BACnet Router Product

Sierra Monitor Corporation (OTCQB: SRMC), a provider of Industrial Internet of Things (IIoT) solutions that connect and protect high-value infrastructure assets, today announced that its FieldServer BACnet Router has been certified by the BACnet Testing laboratory (BTL), having successfully passed the Protocol Revision 12 router tests. The product is the first one in its class to pass the new Protocol Revision 12 tests.

"Building owners and control systems designers rely on products that carry the BTL mark, to ensure interoperability when it comes to their field integration", said Duffy O'Craven, BTL Manager. "As the BACnet standard evolves to support new requirements, it's important that product vendors keep their implementations current. We are pleased to recognize that Sierra Monitor's FieldServer BACnet Router is the first product to be successfully tested as a Router at Protocol Revision 12."

The FieldServer BACnet router is a complete internetworking solution for BACnet/IP, BACnet MS/TP, and BACnet/Ethernet. With its use of two RS-485 ports, the product reduces the cost of connecting each BACnet MS/TP device to a BACnet/IP backbone or doubles the responsiveness of each connected device relative to other options in the market. A simple one-page configuration screen along with a unique one-click discovery feature that allows the integrator to discover all connected BACnet devices minimizes the time required for successful commissioning.
