Theodor-Heuss-Allee 100
Frankfurt, Germany
Located in the heart of Frankfurt's City West district, the Theodor-Heuss-Allee 100 complex consists of three prestigious office buildings providing 450,000 square feet of commercial space for the Allianz Dresdner Banking Group, one of EU's largest financial institutions.
Unique problems to solve: Integration of 20,000 inputs/outputs from subsystems associated with HVAC, lighting, fire protection, smoke evacuation and electrical distribution to provide interoperability and single-seat supervision from any operator workstation.
High-performance integration of multiple industry protocol standards included the main HVAC/ electrical systems (BACnet(r) on Ethernet), intelligent fire dampers (Profibus) and the office lighting and automated blinds control (European Installation Bus). Interoperability had to meet strict performance requirements, particularly system response times for smoke control.
System solution: BACnet® protocol on Ethernet was chosen as the primary backbone for the integration. The Delta Controls system monitors and controls almost 4,000 physical inputs/outputs which are connected directly to the controllers residing on the BACnet/Ethernet network. The system provides high-performance interoperability with other subsystems, and enables high-speed user access from operator workstations. Gateways connect the lighting, automated blinds and fire dampers into the BACnet/Ethernet network.

Please click here for more information about the BACnet Interest Group Europe HAPPY BIRTHDAY, BACnet!BACnet International and the BACnet Interest Group Europe (BIG-EU) are celebrating two BACnet anniversaries in 2014 and 2015: 10 years DIN EN ISO 16484-5 and 20 years ANSI/ASHRAE 135! In that time the open communication standard has become an unprecedented enabler of sustainable building automation.
To bring the powerful message of BACnet benefits to a wider audience, a global anniversary roadshow is intended in 2014/2015. BACnet International and the BIG-EU are supporting a call for sponsors that enables MarDirect to organize the global event. Initial planning focusses on 12 modern cities in America, Europe and Asia. All locations would include a state-of-the-art exhibition and provide the latest information about open communication in building automation, the development of standardization, interoperability of BACnet devices, the BTL Mark and European Certification as well as information about BACnet vendors and suppliers.
From Ithaca, New York to the world
BACnet plays a significant role in building automation projects all over the world. The BACnet International and BIG-EU associations represent major global manufacturers, integrators and user companies. The associations are committed to educating users and suppliers about the value of BACnet solutions.
The open communication protocol was created to connect the proprietary building automation devices and control systems of Cornell University, Ithaca, New York. Under the umbrella of ASHRAE, the protocol, now developed and known as protocol for Building Automation and Control Networks (BACnet) became ANSI standard in 1995.
In 2003-2004 it was published as DIN EN ISO standard. Today more than 720 vendor IDs have been distributed, more than 600 devices - classified in 9 profiles - "speak" BACnet and comply with the requirements of the standard.
The 10/20 anniversaries of the BACnet standard is a unique chance to reflect the benefits of BACnet for sustainable buildings in terms of construction, retrofitting and integration in smart grids.

------------------------------- Please click here for more information about ICONICS. ICONICS Featured in Microsoft Touch MagazinesIn the Spring 2014 issue of Touch, Solutions Smart Enough for Microsoft highlights the success in using ICONICS' AnalytiX® energy management solutions to improve the energy efficiency of over one hundred Microsoft campus buildings. The discussion continues in Microsoft's Touch Partner Guide, Public Sector 2014-2017 Global Outlook, in Symphony of Software Saves Millions. A small, covert team of engineers at Microsoft cast aside suggestions that the company spend US$60 million to turn its 500-acre headquarters into a smart campus to achieve energy savings and other efficiency gains. Instead, applying an 'Internet of Things meets big data' approach, the team invented a data-driven software solution based upon ICONICS COTS software that is slashing the cost of operating the campus' 125 buildings, saving Microsoft millions of dollars. The application has been so successful that the company is now helping building managers across the world deploy the same solution. And with commercial buildings consuming an estimated 40% of the world's total energy, the potential is huge.
