CULTURAL CENTER OPENS IN BAHIA, BRAZIL

The Historic Center of Salvador de Bahia, a 2012 Watch site, received an American Express award through WMF to develop the "Centro da Cidade," a high-tech center for the study and interpretation of Bahian culture. The main goal of this project is to promote the culture of Bahia in all its expressions among its local inhabitants as well as visitors. The launch of the first phase of this project took place on August 8, at the Palacio dos Esportes, an Art Deco building located at the entrance to the historic center of the city, with the inauguration of a temporary exhibit displaying the conceptual design of the center.
