get ruthless to make meetings more efficient
Meetings don't have to be an endless waste of time, writes Jeff Denneen. Try passing rules limiting the length of all meetings, and start each by evicting anyone whose attendance isn't necessary. study: women who play sports have more career success
A study by Longitude Research has found that 94% of female executives played sports at some point in their lives, and 74% think "playing sports can help accelerate a woman's leadership and career potential," Jacquelyn Smith writes.  The majority of female executives who played sports say it has contributed to their success.  Business Insider (10/9)

cbo: added funding for medicare, medicaid anti-fraud efforts beneficial
A report from the Congressional Budget Office showed that additional funding for anti-fraud efforts by Medicare, Medicaid and the Children's Health Insurance Program would be beneficial and even generate savings that would offset the added cost.  The CBO said expenditures on fraud prevention efforts have been "limited" and added up to approximately $1.4 billion in the 2014 fiscal year.  Government Executive (10/22)

more investigators needed to fight medicare, medicaid fraud, u.s. attorney says
U.S. Attorney A. Lee Bentley announced that the $24.7 billion collected by federal prosecutors this year from fraud or criminal activity cases, $367 million came from the Middle District of Florida.  He said his office relies heavily on whistleblowers and called them the most important tool to fight health care fraud committed against government agencies such as Medicare and Medicaid.  Bentley said more investigators are needed for federal agencies to identify possible fraud cases.  The Florida Times-Union (Jacksonville) (12/1)
