ABC Nation

Good afternoon. The weekly indoor workouts have gotten off to a fantastic start and the feedback from the ABC staff has been all positive. We have encouraged and supported a little time off during the transition from the spring season into the summer session. It's time to get back to work and start buckling down and getting prepared for the workload and grind of the summer season.

Please take a minute to review the info below related to our first busy weekend of ABC summer ball:

  • Sat 5/18, Team field practice - each team is scheduled to practice this Saturday, 5/18 @ Travis County East Metro (we appreciate your commitment to attending this all important first workout). Please visit your team page to review practice time. If you are not familiar with the Travis County East Metro complex, please allow yourself a few extra minutes of travel time. *wear baseball pants
  • Sun 5/19, ABC league games - click here or check individual team pages for game times and location - hot link on your team page is titled - weekend of 5/18-5/19 (we are using Preston field and East Metro). Please note the ABC league game schedule designates what color of pants to wear and what color of shirt to wear. Make sure you confirm so that you arrive in the proper uniform. *each team will wear royal blue socks and royal blue belt all summer
  • Uniform package ($100) - the coaches and I have opted NOT to hand out your uniform package this weekend (two ABC game hats, two ABC game jersey's, one ABC practice shirt). We want to eliminate this distraction and place a premium on getting max reps and spending time together as a team on the field. We will designate several days in the near future for uniform pick up at our business office and have set aside a pick up date for Sun 6/2 at our scheduled pro-style skills testing combine *you are welcome to drop off summer uniform package fee at the ABC organizational meeting on Sunday.
  • ABC organizational meeting - (see details below). The Austin Baseball Club prioritizes the relationships that we build with each and every ABC family. Sunday will afford us the opportunity to begin to lay the necessary ground work that will ultimately lead to your best summer baseball experience to date! The staff and I appreciate you making every effort to attend this organizational meeting. Ball players will not be permitted to proceed with activities in June/July until information covered in this organizational meeting has been reviewed.

What: ABC organization meeting (summer ball kick off) and individual team meetings *mandatory attendance by all players and at least one parent

Who:  all ABC summer ball players and at least one parent

Where: FEFC (First Free Church - 4220 Monterey Oaks blvd; SW Austin - map); climate controlled facility, chairs, etc conveniently located right off Mopac south.

When: Sunday, May 19th, 6:00-7:30

Why: Our desire is for each family to maximize their summer ball experience in the Austin Baseball Club each session. This organizational meeting will allow the ABC coaching staff to communicate clear goals and expectations. We will be reviewing the organizational policies and procedures as well as going over "A day/week in the life of" an ABC player/family. Regardless of whether you are a first season ABC family or are a seasoned veteran, all families will need to be represented.

Format: We will meet as a large group all together in a main room for the summer ball orientation. Then, individual teams (players, parents, and coaches) will split off into individual team meetings for a meet & greet as well as the opportunity to hear directly from the coaches. This will be a one stop shop for you to hear more about "All Things ABC" and then split off to meet with your summer coaches and teammates. We feel this is an excellent format and an efficient use of your time.
