Extra preparation for tournament this weekend I am writing to provide you will an additional tool to help you prepare for our busy weekend of baseball. The ABC Continuing Education page has been updated with the following:- Professional approach to hitting chart
- Hitters journal: record quality at-bat's
I encourage each player (and parent) take time this evening to review the both PDF handouts posted on the website:
Professional Hitters Chart Many can hit, but few are great hitters. During each at-bat the count changes with each pitch. You are either ahead in the count, behind in the count, or even in the count. Great hitters have a rock solid approach for each at bat. They have a plan. This chart will help you begin to develop a solid and consistent approach at the plate.
Hitters Journal: quality at-bat's A hitters "quality at-bat average" is a stat that tells a truer story and paints a more accurate picture of the development of a hitter. A hitter with a high "quality at-bat average" is on the road to long term success at the plate. A high batting average does not tell the whole story. I encourage you to print off several copies of the at-bat journal entry pages posted on the website (cut them into fourth's and staple them into a "book"). There you will have the opportunity to record information related to each at-bat that I will be hosting a workshop for us to go over and teach you how to accurately process the data collected and how to interpret where you need to make adjustments. Best advise when using the "quality at-bat" journal: keep it simple and be honest. The least amount of technical information the better. Follow the instructions.
Take time to review the info posted. More Baseball Chocolates to come! We are looking forward to an outstanding weekend of baseball! |
