ABC Nation

Good afternoon. Congratulations on a great first weekend of the ABC winter program. Team practices last Saturday were efficient and gave us the opportunity to provide quality reps and coaching. Game #1 of the World Series were extremely competitive and the coaches have all prepared game note/thoughts that I will be posting for your review (link is on the World Series home page).

Please make sure you review the data points posted below so that you are up to speed on topics related to your program success:

Reminder that both the field clinic on Saturday and the ABC winter World Series game #2 will be played at the Balcones Sports Complex (near Parmer & Mopac map). All players must be in baseball pants and long sleeves (prefer royal blue). for both the clinic and WS games. ABC places a high priority on arm care and as the weather gets cooler, you must take care of your arm.

  • Saturday (11/17) field clinic info and registration is posted on the fall home page. Pre-registration is required and all ABC winter program participants are invited and encouraged to participate (9:00 OF's & C's; 10:00 INF's). *hosted at Balcones Sports Complex
  • ABC World Series game schedule is posted on the ABC fall page. Game #2 is schedule for this Sunday (11/18). Ball players participating need to make sure you check the ABC WS link. Reminder to pay close attention to the specific color of pants your team is assigned to wear. Ball players out of uniform risk not being allowed to participate. Reminder to please use the link provided on the World Series home page to communicate any issues related to attendance/participation.
  • Keep an eye out for info regarding my "Continuing Education" weekly conference call series. I will send a memo with details and post info on the ABC website (College Placement Program page). Next Monday's guest (11/19) is scheduled to be Tom Allison, scouting director for the Seattle Mariners. Tom and I will be discussing how professional scouts can play a significant role in the college recruiting process. Check website for details.
  • Schedule adjustments for next week (Thanksgiving week):  One of my favorite holiday's of the year is Thanksgiving. Plan to attend your regular Monday or Tuesday indoor workshops next week. All Wed (11/21) and Thurs (11/22) workshops will be cancelled due to the holiday break. Both indoor academies will be open for "extra reps & open gym" on Sunday 11/25, 1:00-3:00.
  • College recruiting video consultation for 2013-2014 grads. Interested ball players please e-mail me so I can provide you with more details regarding this opportunity on Saturday morning (11/17), 10:00, at Balcones. I will be hosting an informative Q&A session as well as providing the opportunity for players to be video taped (if you plan to attend the informative session or are interested in being video taped please e-mail me in advance).

I encourage all of you to take a peek and stay up to speed with the data provided on the ABC College Placement program link (fall home page). Many of the ABC 2013-2104 grads are taking advantage of the opportunities posted. Info is not just for upperclassman players & families. It is never too early to start gathering knowledge and information regarding the college recruiting process.

Reminder: Ball players who are starting workouts and activities in November need to please make sure you fill out the online player data form as well as register for your weekly indoor workshops. Registration links are on the ABC fall home page.
