STEM Sunday at MOST 2013 Statewide Conference
In recognition of our new sySTEM initiative and the growing importance of STEM to Out of School Time educators in Maryland (plus having more exciting STEM presenters than could fit into our other days!), we're devoting a whole day of our 2013 MOST Statewide Conference (Sunday, March 3rd) to STEM.
In addition to workshop presentations, STEM Sunday will also feature a panel on the State of STEM in Maryland with TED-style talks and a hands-on expo with presenters and exhibitors. Presenters and exhibitors will include: NASA's BEST, 4H, Digital Harbor Foundation, Baltimore Kids Chess League, FIRST Robotics, Howard County Library System, and the RoboDoves.
The Conference, which also includes an Advocacy day (Monday, March 4th), and a Healthy Behaviors day (Tuesday, March 5th), will be held at the Historic Inns of Annapolis. Participants can register for one ($50), two ($80), or all three ($100) days. For more information and to register, visit the MOST website.

Be a part of MOST sySTEM: Partners & Members
Speaking of sySTEM, a big part of the work that it entails will involve gathering a network of Members and Partners who practice and/or support STEM in Maryland. And to get the ball rolling on that, MOST will be holding two information sessions
(January 4th from 10am to 11am and January 15th from 6pm to 7pm) to introduce the Partner and Member concept and solidify Partner and Member roles. The same information will be covered on both dates. sySTEM Members are afterschool and summer program providers in any setting (school or community) that are either currently offering STEM programming and want to join an OST STEM learning community or want to begin offering STEM programming to their participants and would like support in getting started.
sySTEM Partners are
organizations or individuals with a key interest and commitment to expanding STEM afterschool opportunities. Examples of potential partners are Universities, Businesses, STEM Content Providers, Intermediaries, Researchers, Policy Makers, and Advocates.

The January 4th session will take place at Safe and Sound (2 E Read St., 3rd Fl., Baltimore, MD 21202). The January 15th session's location is TBD based on registration. For more information and to RSVP, please contact Andrew Axel ( aaxel@mdoutofschooltime.org)
