November 2015

Announcing Member Forums
In December, Syracuse Real Food Co-op members are invited to join the Board of Directors and the General Manager for a member forum. By holding these "listening sessions" on two different nights, right inside the store, the board hopes to create a convenient venue for members to engage directly with the leadership team and provide input into our future plans. Join the dialog on December 1 or December 8 to make your voice heard.

Discuss our Co-op's Values, Vision, and Strategies for the future

If you attended the Annual Meeting on November 2, you're aware that Syracuse Real Food Co-op just concluded an excellent year -- but that we have a long road to travel if we are to grow into the "sustainable, thriving, cooperative commerce" envisioned in our Ends statement. With that in mind, our forums will focus on the following themes.

1 - Our Values. Why do members believe in supporting our co-op? What inspires your love, loyalty, and enthusiasm? What pieces of Syracuse Real Food Co-op's history and identity do you hold most dear?

2 - Vision for the Future. There has been a lot of talk in recent years about expansion, but just as important, we need to talk about sustaining our current store and growing in place. What are the goals and priorities of our membership today?

3 - Strategies for Success. What changes can we put into place that will bring us closer to to long term sustainability? To begin answering that question, General Manager Jeremy DeChario will explain how Syracuse Real Food Co-op's current member discount program impacts our financial position and our ability to issue patronage dividends. After learning more about the situation, members will be asked to share their opinions on potential changes.

To read more, check out our Annual Reports or the New Leaf article (page 5) on these member forums. We hope to see you on December 1 or 8!

Cast Your Ballot for the Board Election
Members of the Syracuse Real Food Co-op have until December 1 to participate in the annual Board of Directors election, which was kicked off at our Annual Fall Meeting on November 2. Don't forget to vote!

Cast your ballot You can complete your ballot in the store, or you can download one here and drop it off. Either way, please be sure to follow the instructions carefully to make sure your ballot is valid. Your signature must appear across the seal, and the other side of the envelope must have your printed name and member number.

Vote for up to three candidates - This year, Syracuse Real Food Co-op's nine-person Board has three positions that are up for reelection (three year terms, 2016-2018). We're excited to have two new candidates and one incumbent volunteering for these spots. Before you vote, read statements from each candidate in the New Leaf (page 8), available online or in the
Co-op.
