LAST CHANCE TO GET CHRIS' HOLIDAY PRODUCE BOX
"
Chris Henwood, Produce Manager, Is Getting The Produce Department Ready For The Upcoming Thanksgiving & Hanukkah Holidays. She Knows You'll Want Some Pristine Produce Items

Chris Doing The Irish Jig
Sign Up By November 17th Pick Up On November 27th

So what has she done? She's in the process of gathering up produce from many local growers to put in the Co-op's produce case for the holidays. Not only that, she is amassing a fine array of traditional holiday produce to place in her holiday produce box. Chris explains her plan as follows:

Thanksgiving box

"Thanksgiving boxes will contain organic produce that is popularly used in recipes during Thanksgiving, sourced from local and regional farms where possible.

Boxes will be available for pickup, and must be picked up the day before Thanksgiving (Wednesday, November 27th) and paid for upon signing up. To sign up, talk to a cashier at the store today!

Sorry, no substitutions; a list of what is inside the box will be provided upon pickup so any other necessary produce that is not included in the box can be planned for and purchased.

Boxes are $50 and will contain $50 worth of produce, there's a limit of 30 boxes, and the deadline for signups is Sunday, November 17th at the end of the day."

LAST PERMACULTURE EVENT OF THE YEAR

Plant A Tree In This Spot On Saturday November 30th

Join the SRFC and The Alchemical Nursery for a prep work day on Saturday November 30th from 12 noon - 2 pm to get the Co-op's backyard ready for a Spring transformation.  An apple tree will be planted, and some planting areas will be sheet mulched, where we'll plant a Winter Greens bed, a Perennial Vegetables polyculture bed, and some berry bushes when the weather breaks in 2014.  Donations are appreciated of either money (we're looking at about $100 in expenses for this work day), or donations of goods and materials (a dwarf apple tree, straw bales, bagged leaves, hardwood logs around 10"-14" diameter and 4'-8' length).  Contact Don DeVeau (don@syracuserealfood.coop / 315-472-1385) for donations or Frank Cetera (frcetera@alchemicalnursery.org 315-308-1372).
