CHRIS SAYS, "THE PRICES ARE RIGHT!"

Chris Henwood, Produce Manager, Hopes You Like The Co-op's New Produce Pricing & Information Signs

Did you notice that you no longer have to pick up a produce price sign from the floor to see how much your kale will cost? Or did you not have to worry about being

too close to the produce section so that you brush against the sign and down it goes? Oops! Chris has been working hard to install the new visible price signs and description signs that include helpful tips for your shopping convenience. They say things like product of USA, etc; Select firm Red Onions that are heavy for their size; keep onions in a dry, cool, well-ventilated place; select plump and fragrant mangoes; should yield to gentle pressure when

ripe. As you can see, left and below, the signs are in large print for easy price recognition and, where possible, a picture of the item is next to the description for easy identification in case one does not know what a produce item looks like. Signs that note whether an item is organic are also readily visible. Chris is excited about the Co-op now having upscale signage to make your produce shopping experience one that will allow you to make good, well informed decisions.

New Produce Informational Signs

Chris has made up the following winter time recipe as a way of helping to cure the cold weather effects with a delicious hearty stew. Try out this healthy and nutritious cabbage, kale, and lentil stew soon, with one of our delicious focaccia loaves of bread from Patisserie, or with a stretch bread from Pastabilities!

  • head of cabbage, shredded or chopped
  • bunch of kale, remove stem & chop
  • 2 large onions, chopped
  • 4 tomatoes, chopped
  • 4 cups vegetable stock
