Meet Natalie Brand
Natalie is our new Director of the National Media Council and will be installed this summer at our annual meeting.  We thank Kacey Montoya for leading the way the past couple of years and wish her all the best.

Natalie Brand returns to the Valley of the Sun after spending part of her childhood here. She's amazed by how the region has grown and feels honored to be working in such an exciting and diverse community.

Her love for television news has taken her up and down the West Coast. Before arriving at 3TV, she reported at Fox 12 in Portland, Ore., covering everything from Occupy Portland to the epidemic of sex trafficking, a topic on which she put together a series of in-depth reports.  Prior to Portland, Natalie's work in California's Coachella Valley at CBS 2 earned her a "Reporter of the Year" award from The Associated Press Television and Radio Association. She also earned a regional Edward R. Murrow Award, a Golden Mike Award and an AP Spot News Award for her breaking-news coverage of a police standoff which unfolded live on the air.

Over the years, Natalie has covered stories that made national headlines including massive wildfires, a tornado, and President Gerald Ford's funeral. She even scored an interview with Archbishop Desmond Tutu when he visited California.

Natalie began working in news while still in college at the University of California, San Diego. She graduated with honors from the communications department while also holding a job as an overnight writer and associate producer for the local CBS affiliate.

Natalie is a also honored to be a member of the National Women's Coalition Against Violence & Exploitation Advisory Council the past couple of years serving as the award Chair this past January for the Southwest Conference Against Trafficking.

When she's not looking for the next big story, Natalie can be found on the golf course, sampling new restaurants, volunteering and spending time with family, friends and her two rescue cats, Oliver and Preston.  Read more...
