HUNT #150 RUSSIAN BEAR AND SNOW SHEEP
|

Limited openings available for the 2017 season - Due to the amount of information on this hunt we suggest you call our office for additional information. We can send you a detailed write-up that covers all aspects of this high success exciting hunt.
We worked for years putting together a solid Russian hunt, and we have it!
What distinguishes our outfitted Russian bear hunts and Snow sheep hunts from Russian hunts offered by others-- is our joint careful professionalism and attention to details. The guides and the outfitter have been called some of the very best that our sheep and bear hunters have seen- anywhere. Trained by an Alaskan outfitter here in the US, our outfitter is qualified as a US guide and outfitter, which truly elevates him well above the typical Russian trapper who has turned "entrepreneur". He is also sufficiently capitalized, which again most Russian outfitters are not. This means better equipment, better safety and better coordination with our own home team. And that professionalism shows in the equipment, organization, fine base camp and our extremely high client satisfaction. Indeed the one word that is uttered almost unanimously by every one of our clients, is the single word- "professional." (A word you will NEVER hear about most Russian "outfitters").
Most of our hunting clients feel our Russian bear and sheep hunts are one of their finest hunting experiences. Our outfitter is getting grades of excellent to excellent plus, from both our bear hunters and our sheep hunters. One group of 5 sheep hunters took 12 snow sheep (perfectly legal) on a deep expedition into Siberia. We are close to 100% on sheep and are about 160% on bears (due to most of our hunters taking a second bear). Sheep have been in the 34 to 43" range, but one hunter missed a sheep estimated at 46" or slightly more- a probable world record!
Over the past 10 years our Russian outfitter has constantly updated equipment and facilities and has steadily been searching out new bear and sheep areas within his nearly ¾ million acre concession. On his Spring snow machine bear hunts, he has spent a good deal of money buying new snow machines of high quality and reliability. He combines this with excellent Russian guides who have been trained to track bears, judge size from foot prints, and who can think in terms of feet, not meters, while judging bears.
Bears taken here will average around the honest 8 foot mark, (not with the phoney stretching so prevalent with big bears!), with enough pushing up to 9' to keep it interesting. We expect the best advice we can give anyone is to tell you, expect to see 30 to 100 bears, and be prepared to shoot anything in the 8' or larger range. AND YOU CAN EVEN TAKE A SECOND BEAR FOR JUST THE TROPHY FEE!! That must be pre-booked and the trophy fee banked with us in advance, however.
SHEEP: On the sheep hunts (remote helicopter fly-ins) he has excellent facilities and capable and fit guides as well. And if you need to be moved due to a lack of rams, he does it by helicopter usually, and does it AT NO COST TO YOU!! We know of no-one else who does that. His sheep hunting is the finest in Russia, in our judgment. He normally will be hunting the Yakutian subspecies of snow sheep. He actually hunts 3 different species of snow sheep (Yakutian, Okhotian and the newly recognized Kolyma subspecies), but Yakutian is considered generally to be the largest. We expect the normal 100% success on sheep, assuming the hunters are in reasonable sheep shape and that weather Cooperates.
The cabins are well appointed, comfortable and receive daily housekeeping. The staff chef prepares hearty family style meals with great appetizers for you while you kick back around the fire and talk about the days hunt.

PATAGONIA! Just the name inspires visions of mountains, wonderful trout streams, Andean condors floating above rocky crags, and big red stags roaring out their challenges. It is a rugged but beautiful area with generally open but steeply rolling terrain. Game is quite visible normally, and stalking into range can be a challenge. There are also some huge wild boars, which can be reclusive.
Hunting is done normally on foot, using vehicles into the hunt area. From there, climb or walk to a high ridge or mountain top and glass; then stalk your chosen animal. In mid-March to mid April, the stags are roaring loudly and often, and glassing and watching the hi-jinks is great sport indeed. Horses may be used sometimes also. This outfitter has two 5 star lodges totaling 85,000 acres in Patagonia.
For those hunters looking to hunt really big free range stag, in the mountains, and with world class accommodations and also to take a great red stag trophy, this is the place. This hunt includes 6 nights / 5 hunting days plus your red stag trophy of up to 319 SCI points. Guiding is 1 on 1. Bring good optics! They can save a lot of unnecessary walking. This is be one of the few places in Argentina that you can be reasonably sure of taking a gold medal stag in free range, and with an affordable price. OTHER GAME TO HUNT: There are a variety of other species available here as well: Pere David deer, Alpine Ibex (these two species often sell out early), fallow deer, European mouflon, hybrid sheep, wild boar, wild goat, Somalian ram, Patagonian ram, Patagonian Dall, Axis deer, multihorn ram, Feral Oxen, Black Jacob's ram, Balearean Boc. If you like to shoot birds, we can also combine this trip with some serious hot barrel wingshooting near BA in their way in or out. And we can also add great Blackbuck, Axis and boar hunting- just ask us.

Airfares to BA
This is an incredibly exciting hunt- you hear perhaps a hundred roars or more a day during the rut from early March to late April.
But please, do read about all our Argentina operations- some have differences that may be very attractive such as superb bird hunting to add to the stag, palatial lodging, and more. All have been proven by us time after time. You can look these up on our web catalog by their number and country: Argentina #'s 39, 42, and 249. All of these operations also cater to bowhunters, and we love bowhunting down there --due to all the multiple chances you will have!

ARIZONA #71 BLACK BEARS "IN THE PEARS"
|
 ARIZONA ** RIFLE * ARCHERY ** MUZZLELOADER ** SEPTEMBER 30
Four and Five-day hunts along the Mogollon Rim of central Arizona and several of southeastern Arizona's mountain ranges for bears with very large skulls and color phases. These hunts are conducted like no other bear hunts in the world in that the bears are hunted in the cactus while they eat the delicious fruit of the prickly pear cactus. On occasion, clients have seen in excess of fifteen bears a day during this brief phenomenon of late summer.
This outfitters hunting techniques are very similar to those used for his Coues deer hunts with big optics and remote country being the key. In the past four seasons, clients have taken 17 bears with 7 in excess of the magic 20". These big boars seldom hibernate in this southern location, allowing them to grow into some of the largest bears in the lower 48. If you like exciting hunts, hunting in shorts, and going home with a really nice tan, this is the hunt for you! These permits are available over the counter and our bears are huge, so be sure to book early to ensure your spot in the books!
Hunts are guided 1x1 from dome tent base camps or hotels. Additional days are available at $500.00/day/hunter. These hunts are also available on a 2x1 basis at a reduced rate. A real bargain on a very unique hunt. AZ - Non Resident Black Bear Tags $237 Over The Counter-No Draw!

ALBERTA #99 MOOSE, ELK & WHITETAIL TROPHIES
|
This respected outfitter has been an avid hunter all his life and has been guiding rifle and bow hunters in Alberta and the Northwest Territories since 1986. He has been outfitting on his own for over 20 years.
His better half has been a hunter all of her life, too. Between the two, they take care of all areas of the business from the bookkeeping right through to the cooking and guiding. When you leave, you'll feel like a family member.
Each year this outfitters clients take some wonderful trophies including some monster mule deer, huge bears and some good elk and moose as well. Many clients are repeat customers year after year with him. He has also hosted many of the big name writers and TV hunting celebs, including Dwight Schuh and Tom Nelson, among others. He is the real deal- dedicated, honest, hard working and he produces for his clients.
He still has a few top quality hunts open for this upcoming fall hunting season and states, "everything is shaping up for another fantastic fall hunt, we had a very mild winter and excellent spring and summer rainfall, perfect conditions for large antler growth. They are our normal prime time hunt dates and all of the hunts are operated out of our comfortable lodge with a full time cook".
- $6000- Archery Elk and Moose Combo for one hunter, September 6-15. An exciting rut elk hunt combined with Canada moose. You'll be hunting both species at the same time but focusing mainly on the elk trying to call them into close range. It is pre-rut for the moose though so don't book this hunt if moose is your primary goal. You need to be in good physical shape for this hunt.
- $6000- Elk Rifle Hunt for one hunter, September 22-30.
This is a rare opportunity where you get to hunt elk in the rut with a rifle! Outfitter often has 100% kill success on this hunt on mature 5 and 6 point bulls and most of the shots are under 150 yards. It is best if you are in good shape, able to walk several miles a day in steep river valleys but because this opening is 1 on 1 guided it can be conducted to what suits your physical fitness.
- $6000- Moose Rut Rifle or Bow for two hunters, Sept 22-30. I really can't believe this hunt is still open! It is in the outfitters best trophy moose hunting area, just south of the lodge, where you have an excellent chance to kill a 40 to 50 inch wide bull or even bigger. It takes a resident hunter 7 years to draw this tag. No draw for you! Outfitter can focus on walking and calling for the physically fit hunter or more on truck driving for the less fit hunter, it's up to you.

- $6500- Moose Nov. Rifle Hunt for 2 hunters, Oct 30-Nov 7. This is the least physically demanding hunt with our highest long term success rate. You WILL kill a moose, often within just 1 or 2 days and the shots are usually under 200 yards. If you end up hunting for a few days you could see as many as 20-30 moose per day, trophy hunting isn't recommended though. It is some of the best tasting meat you will ever eat and you can drive right to the lodge and take all the meat home.
- $3900- Whitetail Rifle Hunt for 2 hunters, November 15-23. They have some massive antlered and huge bodied Whitetails! This is the peak of the rut and you will be hunting mainly out of comfortable box blinds that can be heated. The stands are set back in the woods, near farm fields, on well scouted buck travel routes between doe groups. You will have an excellent chance for success on a 150 plus score buck if you can sit all day. and you never know when an absolute giant 180 plus score deer may show up! They get shot in this zone every year.
The dates above are all the arrival and departure dates in Grande Prairie, Alberta. You can book in as a solo hunter. Guaranteed outfitter licenses, no draw.

NEW MEXICO #115 ARCHERY/MUZZLELOADER ELK HUNTS W/LANDOWNER VOUCHERS- NO DRAW!
|
The outfitter does hunt elk on public ground in the Gila, but most of his hunts are on private ranches within and around the Gila, where the bulls have much less pressure. Archery hunts take place in September at the beginning of the rut.
Hunting methods include spot and stalk, calling in the morning and hunting around water holes. Muzzleloader hunts are in October toward the end of the rut (scopes and sabots are legal). On his ranch hunts, (free ranging of course), you will purchase a landowner voucher, which means you do not need to gamble in the draw, just buy the hunt. You can then use the voucher and your Elk tag can then be purchased over the counter.

The Gila in Southern New Mexico! Magic words to the ears of many elk hunters- years of tales of giant elk have made generations of hunters drool over the thought of a New Mexico hunt in the Gila region. This hunt takes place in some of the best big game units in New Mexico. This is a family run business that has been in operation for a number of years. The outfitter himself has been hunting in the area for thirty years. He does most of the guiding himself. His hunts take place in Unit 15, a primitive weapons unit often considered to be the finest unit in the Gila. He also hunts the famed surrounding units 12 and 13. He often takes even bigger bulls from these lesser known units! If you are hoping to tag a true giant bull elk, he does it, and does it every year! Now lets be realistic - not everyone will tag a giant; and not everyone will even kill a bull --but your odds are good here. Some units are muzzleloader or bow only, and some are rifle. There are other New Mexico units with higher success, but not with bigger bulls. In recent years, All the elk he killed were between 300-340 class bulls.
Accommodations include a log cabin, bunkhouse or guest lodge. Meals are home cooked. Hunts take place in elevations between 7,000 and 9,000 feet. Cover is pinyon and juniper with good visibility. Most of the terrain allows for easy walking, the use of a four wheeler and four wheel drive pickups. All hunts are fair chase. The tags are tough to draw, so instead of waiting years to draw, most of our clients opt to purchase a land owner voucher hunt - which is of course more expensive. The landowner will sell the outfitter a private land voucher for several thousands of dollars; and the outfitter buys the voucher and you can then get your elk tag over the counter, using the landowner voucher as authority to do so. You still must pay for the actual elk tag though-around $560 - $780. BUT- you avoid waiting years for the draw and you instead immediately get onto good private land elk hunting!

How good is the elk hunting here? Back a couple years ago, when we spoke with him on November 1st, he had taken a 340, a 335, a 356 and a 405 B&C!! Those are world class bulls and success like that is not unusual for him. He was recently featured on several premier TV shows and his various ranches are just excellent. Butch booked the president of one of the bow manufacturers, into this hunt for archery and he killed a 373 with bow; a rifle guy took a 375.

OHIO DIY TRESPASS FEE ARCHERY ONLY HUNTS
|
This outfitter just contacted us- so we have no track record or history with him. He is in that area of Southeast Ohio that has been kicking out some true giants over the last 5 years or so. However, what we have learned from him and from his references leads us to believe that if you want someplace to go hunt solid whitetails with your bow - and you want it for this year; and you want a serious chance at big bucks, and you want to do all that for small dollars, ---then you need to look at this opportunity.
Here are some reference quotes:
Dwayne J: Hey Butch, First off I am going back I will be there the 2nd week of November. We have been hunting with him for 3 or 4 yrs now and being from Eastern North Carolina hunting Ohio has almost ruined my hunting buddies. The size of the deer and the overall amount of big racked deer we see are why we keep going with him. He has helped us out a lot and you could not ask for a nicer person. He worries about our hunt hoping that we see the kind of deer we are looking for and always is a phone call away. We have turned some of our buddies on to him and they have killed and or seen good deer while they have been hunting. For a do it yourself type hunt I would recommend it to anyone. He meets us when we get there and I have shot one deer and seen several shooters on the property. My son took a very nice 150 in buck 2 yrs ago. I rate the hunt a 10.--- we are avid hunters in our own state and we know hunting is hunting.. Overall you won't meet a more honorable guy !!!
Larry A.: My group has been for the last three years, and plan to keep going every year. We only hunt trophy whitetails, and this property is in a great area with opportunities to kill monster bucks. We have also referred clients that went and had a great experience on other properties that he has. For a DIY hunt it is a great experience. He is very knowledgeable about the area and provides excellent insight on how to hunt the property. We have seen shooter bucks every year we've been and have taken several with one hunter taking a 165" buck. This past year, we filmed a buck pushing 200".
Basically you are given a piece of private property to hunt in any way you wish. You are self guided; you decide on tactics, stands, wind directions etc. If you want to switch locations you just do it. These properties are in areas with habitat from hardwood ridges to creek bottoms to farm fields. You are given detailed aerial maps with suggested hunting areas. You get a place to stay, and do your own cooking- and the places are very nice indeed. They do have a 135" antler restriction. No mixing of groups- its yours for the duration of the hunt. Lodging varies by property.
Here is a brief list of properties and dates and costs for 2016:
- Hunt TH; 270 acres of fields, woods, edge and ponds. Open dates are Nov 5-12; and Nov 12-19. $1750 p. person.
- Hunt RR: 73 acres adjacent to a state park. Steep hills, ridges, water. Oct 29-Nov 5; or Nov 12-19. $1950 p.person
- Hunt RT:. 160 acres of oak ridges, ravines, bedding and feeding areas and is 95% wooded Nov 12-19. $1950 p.p.
