COLORADO #59  EXCLUSIVE PRIVATE RANCH ELK HUNT
This is a quintessential Colorado high mountain hunt, Combined with delicious food, stunning scenery and excellent accommodations.

One of our long time and successful New Mexico outfitters has secured the hunting rights to an exclusive private hunting ranch in South Western Colorado.  Bar none this ranch offers some of Southwestern Colorado best elk hunting opportunities. Historically the 50,600 acre isolated ranch was used for homesteading and cattle ranching but for the last 2 decades it has been managed exclusively for improved wildlife habitat and optimal ecological health.

The ranch encompasses the headwaters of the Navajo river and boasts some of the finest habitat in the west for elk, mule deer and a variety of other species.  The ranch has a wide variety of terrain,  from oak groves, ponderosa forest and meadows at 8000 feet, through thousands of acres of aspen, to deep dark timber in the high country, topping out at over 12,500 feet. There are also an abundance of fresh water springs, ponds and creeks through out the property. All this creates the perfect setting for an excellent hunt.

The elk herd is part of the greater San Juan Basin herd, numbering over 19,000 head of elk, an estimated 3,500 who spend spring through fall directly on the ranch. During your hunt you typically will have the opportunity to see large numbers of rutting bulls during the archery season. Then, as the first dusting of snow hits the upper peaks at the onset of rifle season, remote deep forest bulls begin their descent directly through the ranch on their way to their wintering grounds farther to the South.

The accommodations here are second to none. The newly renovated historic ranch cabins offer an unmatched personal experience that still allow you to enjoy all the camaraderie of a hunting camp, yet still offers up ample private space for each hunter. Even an interior decorator was hired to put things right!

The cabins are well appointed, comfortable and receive daily housekeeping.  The staff chef prepares hearty family style meals with great appetizers for you while you kick back around the fire and talk about the days hunt.

NEBRASKA #80    BIG WHITETAILS- GREAT PRICING
This is a must do hunt and especially for this year! Butch and Joan have already booked two deer hunts for themselves!  The last 3 years have kicked out some true trophy deer for this outfitter's clients. Best whitetail grossed 209!!

Good numbers of 140 to 160 deer as well- but they are not behind every tree so you will earn them. Sheds picked up during the winter of 2015/16 ranged from an estimated  150 into the mid  170's. They have seen and have trail cam pix of  bucks there that will push 180, and maybe even more. But those are the top end. So please do not expect one like that- but it could happen!  We think a patient man should take something in the 130 to 160 range. The fully guided hunts try to concentrate on deer 140 and over. Opportunity has been running very close to 100%. One guy missed an easy 160 class at 60 yards with his muzzleloader last year (2015).

With a huge fire on both side of the River - the habitat has had a massive improvement in forage. That has resulted in increased habitat and horn growth, and has caused the deer herd to grow quite sharply. Typically, 70% of the harvest in NE are bucks 2 ½ years and older. That gives them time to grow a nice set of antlers. Bucks that survived the last few years have seen little hunting pressure and have reached trophy proportions. This outfitter took a 190" whitetail in 2014, plus a number of 140 to 160 inch whitetail deer. In their area, most mulies are 140 to 160" range, but there are a few toads who can reach as high as 180.

The outfitter has in all nearly 30,000 acres- all private, all patrolled and carefully managed for quality deer. They have access to a fourteen mile stretch of river bottom and plains along the Niobrara River as well as other property.

COLORADO #238     PRIVATE LAND RIFLE ELK DURING                                              BUGLE OR ANTELOPE HUNTS
These hunts take place on approximately 10,000 acres of private land east of Gunnison, CO in a prime elk area and an area with very limited tags for antelope. We sell the hunts for the Rancher, but they deliver to you their landowner vouchers, directly on arrival. We do not sell the vouchers.

Last year our 3 elk hunters went two for 3; with the 3rd guy passing a number of bulls in hopes of a monster.

Expect solid 5X5 and 6X6 bulls. This is a rifle hunt during the bugle- very hard to find!  An easy hunt as elk hunts go, and success is normally close to 100%. Very lightly hunted private ground; friendly relaxed hunt. Excellent home cooked dinners, lodging is included.

Guiding is 2X1. $5900. TWO Openings only. Dates: Sept 26-30, 2016. HOT OPPORTUNITY!!

Antelope: Two openings on same ranch during October. $2495. We expect 100%.

NEW MEXICO #90   LATE SEASON RIFLE ELK HUNTS
One of the best known elk areas in New Mexico is the famed Unit 4, a northern unit having virtually no public land, and an area carefully managed by ranchers and outfitters to provide premium elk hunting.

This outfitter has been featured on numerous television shows with many of the well-known TV celebrities. Also, all of this outfitter's New Mexico elk hunts INCLUDE THE LANDOWNER TAG! So you do not have to enter any draw! Just buy the hunt and the landowner tag allows you to buy your elk license over the counter. That license is approximately $554 plus a $65 hunt license. High success, good bulls, a class operation and no draw.

Many of the twenty-odd ranches this outfitter hunts are lower lying private ground with areas of parks and meadows, scattered water tanks, and conifers.  We have worked with this outfitter for about 12 years or more and he has been operating for over 20 years in New Mexico, with a sterling record for honesty, hard work and producing elk. We have probably sent him over 100 clients.  Elevations average from about 7,000 feet to as high as 10,000 feet resulting in a variety of cover and hunting styles, depending on which ranch you hunt and what your hunt dates are. High country or low, he covers it all.
